The Ga Fishermen Song (Babababa Shibaba)

The objective of this lesson is to engage students in a song from the east coast of Accra, Ghana, focusing on the rich cultural heritage of the Ga people, integrating storytelling for contextualization and promoting cultural values such as community and unity. Students through storytelling and music making will learn to foster appreciation for diverse perspectives and learn the importance of giving context to music from diverse cultures.

Pɛtɛ Pɛtɛ (Senyiwa Dedende)

This lesson introduces students to Ghanaian culture through the basic dance of Apatampa (as warm-up), storytelling and music making. Students participate in call-and-response song activities related to the story and engage in reflection and discussion about the cultural significance and moral lessons of the activities. The lesson aims to foster understanding of (Ghanaian) culture, and community engagement while encouraging students to reflect on their own cultural traditions.
